Phil Foden’s Stoppage-Time Winner Seals Dramatic 3-2 Victory for Manchester City Against Leeds United

Manchester City edged Leeds United 3-2 in a pulsating Premier League encounter at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday evening, with Phil Foden scoring twice – including a 90+1-minute winner – to secure all three points for the champions.
City took the lead after just 37 seconds when Foden finished calmly from Bernardo Silva’s cut-back. Leeds responded strongly and equalised through Joël Piroe midway through the first half, before taking a shock 2-1 lead ten minutes into the second period via a powerful Brenden Aaronson strike.Pep Guardiola’s side dominated possession thereafter and were rewarded in the 72nd minute when Josko Gvardiol headed home from Ilkay Gündoğan’s corner to restore parity.
The hosts continued to press and were finally rewarded in stoppage time when Foden latched onto a loose ball inside the box and fired past Illan Meslier. The result moves Manchester City level on points with league leaders Arsenal, while Leeds remain in the relegation zone. Foden’s brace took his Premier League goal tally to 66 – all from open play – and marked his 30th goal contribution of the calendar year across all competitions.
City return to action next weekend against Crystal Palace, while Leeds host Newcastle United.
