Isago Silva, son of Thiago Silva, signs first professional contract with Chelsea

Chelsea FC have confirmed that 17-year-old defender Isago Silva, son of former club captain Thiago Silva, has signed his first professional contract with the club. The deal will officially begin in the 2025/26 season.

Isago, a left-footed centre-back who can also operate at left-back, joined Chelsea’s academy at Under-13 level and has progressed steadily through the age groups. He has become a regular starter for the Under-18 side and was part of the team that lifted the Under-15 Premier League Super Cup in 2024.

The teenager follows in the footsteps of his father, Thiago Silva, who spent four highly successful years at Stamford Bridge between 2020 and 2024, winning the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup while wearing the captain’s armband.

Chelsea’s academy director praised Isago’s technical ability, composure on the ball, and leadership qualities, noting that the new contract is a reward for consistent performances and development over several seasons.

The signing continues the club’s recent trend of securing promising academy talents to long-term professional deals as they approach the transition to senior football. Isago Silva will remain with the youth setup for the remainder of the current campaign before the contract takes effect next summer.
